Our School Mascot

The Wise Old Owl

This beautiful barn-owl lives in the Ashoka tree in our campus.
He can usually be seen sitting up in the branches of this tree, peering down at us with his wise eyes.
Sometimes he disappears for months on end but always returns, we have even conducted science experiments with his regurgitated pellets, dissolving them to see what he has been eating by inspecting the bones he spits up- we discovered he mainly eats mice!
He has almost become the mascot of our school...We love him!

The Wise Old Owl
Sat in an Oak.
The more he saw,
The less he spoke.
The less he spoke,
The more he heard.
Why cant we be
Like this wise old bird?

Visit to Punade Village
Tuesday October 29 '13
Class IV

We have recently been learning all about the various different types of crops grown in our country. In order to learn better, we decided to visit a village where rice is grown so that we can better understand the harvest process and also speak to the farmers.

Our Visit to Punadi Village was tonnes of fun! We saw rice fields, and we saw farmers harvesting the rice. We saw them threshing and winnowing the rice, and we even got to take a few grains of threshed rice as a sample!
We spoke to the farmers and learned about many of their problems, but it was nice to know that the fields belonged to them alone and that they were working in their own fields.

Quick Quiz - is rice a food crop or a cash crop?
